Borneo Investigation Report

Part Two

Investigations in the

Jesselton - Sandakan - Ranau  Area

The following is a description of the work carried out by the PoW Contact Teams in the Sandakan - Ranau - Jesselton, this is to give a general picture of the situation facing the Investigation Teams. I have split the report to make it easier to follow in the date form of events in North Borneo.

        Jesselton Jesselton

        Sandakan Sandakan

Marches to Ranau The Three Sandakan Marches (Ranau)

 Survivors From British North Borneo

A total of 6 Australian PoW succeeded in escaping on the marches to Ranau. Four of them recovered by a Forward Advance Party in the Ranau area in early August 1945.

The other two were extracted from the Sandakan area.

It was now considered definite that no Allied PoW are still alive in British North Borneo at this date.
