Federated Malay States Volunteer Force

History

 

The Federated Malay States Volunteers were formed in 1854 with Britain’s conflict in the Crimea with the motto of ‘In Oriente Primus’. The unit was made of from the civilian population, very similar to Britain’s ‘Territorial Army’. It was made up from the states of Perak, Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Pahang.
