Fukuoka 6D - Tanoura

(Kumamoto)

Fukuoka 6D

 

PoWs worked in carbon plant. They had left Singapore 1943/09/22 in the Seishin Maru along with 1500 other PoWs.

1942 13th October camp started

1943 12th October Australians arrive from Batavia, Java via Singapore. 1500 PoWs left in the Seishin Maru, via Manila and Taiwan

1943 12th October arrive Moji and transported to Tanoura

1945 30th June the camp was closed and the remaining 100 PoWs transported to Fukuoka 25B

I would like to thank Richard Brooker, grandson of Wilson D. Thomas for giving me permission to use his photos which were taken at the Fukuoka 6D Camp, before the PoWs were moved to Fukuoka 25B. (* Photo)
