Son of Charles and Mary Horth. Husband to Hilda Mary Stewart, died in 1928, father to Charles Frederick Stewart, four grandchildren, Doris (Dorothy), Joan, Gail and Anthony. Brother to Charles Edward, Janet Mary, William John and Margaret Clarissa.

Born to Charles (school teacher) and Mary Charlotte (postmistress) on June 1875 (Christened 27th July 1875) in Little Baddow, Essex. Before retirement was a school teacher with brother Charles (assistant master) teaching in Straits Settlements schools.
