1941 October 28th - Transported from Liverpool in ‘Orcades’ to Halifax with the 1st Cambridgeshire Battalion as part of the 55 Infantry Brigade, 18th Division.

USS West Point-1

1941 November 10th - Halifax sailed with William Sail 12X after changing transport to USS West Point, together with the 1st Cambridgeshires and 5th Beds & Herts.

1941 November 24th - Crossed equator.

1941 December 8th - Japan declared war on Britain by attacking Malaya.

1941 December 27th - Arrived Bombay, India.

1942 January 17th- Left India with Task Force 14.2 for Singapore

1942 January 19th - Reached Singapore

1942 February 15th - Singapore surrender

 

Japanese PoW

250 officers and men of the Sherwood Foresters died in captivity under the Japanese.

Alfred survived the Japanese Camps.
