John married Margaret Harkes on the 12th June 1948.

They were blessed with Daughter Christine in 1951, and Son Lain in 1953.
John worked for many years with the Pearl Assurance Co Ltd in Kinghorn Fife. He taught the violin to Kinghorn Primary pupils and dad played in many orchestras across Fife .
