Service

1942: The Battalion was training for jungle warfare in Horana, Ceylon.

January 1943/01/ - It was posted to Kandy.

1943/06 - Became part of the 100th Brigade, 20th Indian Division.

1943/10 - Still in the same Division the Battalion moved to a camp in Burma near Imphal.

1944 - The Japanese had laid a heavy siege upon Imphal

1944/06/ - The successful counter-attack to relieve this siege began and the Japanese withdrew to burma.

1945/04/ - The battalion was transferred to the 36th British Infantry Division, which was previously an Indian Army formation, and became a Reconnaissance Regiment for the division.

1945/05/ - 2nd Battalion returned to India for Jungle Training

1945/05/05 - WO417/91.2, Casualty List No. 1749. Unpaid Lance Corporal. Reported ‘Missing’.

1946/02/11 - WO417/101, Casualty List No.1983. Previously shown on Casualty List No.1749 as Missing, 07/04/1945. ‘Presumed Died of Wounds’
