Age 20

26th July 1945

Killed in action flying a Hellcat, he carried out a strafing attack as part of Operation Livery, a three day operation to clear the approaches to Phuket Island; Dean attacked a Japanese locomotive at Dhung Song Railway Junction, Phuket Island, Thailand; his aircraft burst into flames and crashed into some Palm Trees.
