The 160 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery was formed in July 1941 with three batteries, ‘A’ ‘B’ and ‘C’.
The Regiment absorbed 161 Field Regiment in April 1942.
It was re-organised as 160 Jungle Field Regiment in October 1943 and reverted to a Field role in July 1944.
The three batteries were 584, 585 and 586. The 584 Battery was made up from 16 x 3.7 inch Howitzers, 16 x 3 inch Mortars.
In February 1944 there were four troops using 25 ponders for Chindit operations.
In January 1945 the 160 Field Regiment was part of the 26 Indian Division fighting in Burma.

1945/04/27 - WO417/008, Casualty List No. 1742. Previously reported on Casualty List No. 1681 as Missing 21/01/1945. Now reported ‘Killed In Action’.
