Flight Sergeant

Robert Saul

Royal Airforce

Robert was the rear gunner with the same air crew as John Harvey-Steel (PB 304 'S' for Sugar), he was not on the fatal flight that took the life of John Harvey-Steel, as he was recovering from a wound he took in operations on the 25th July 1944.

Sgt. Saul originated from Bamber Bridge near Preston, and at 35 years old he did not have to participate in any theatre of war.

Robert survived the war and passed away 27th April 1983.

Father of John, Marie and William from his first marriage and Margaret and Patricia from his second marriage.
