Service History

Freddie was one of the last to leave Dunkirk before he was sent to the Far East, and at Dunkirk was his brother Richard who went to the Near East. Richard mad it home.

While in Singapore Freddie had shown his wedding picture to his nephew Harold, telling him his wife Eveline was pregnant, and possible already had the baby. Their baby girl, Maureen was born 12th November, it is not known if Freddie ever got to know he had a boy or a girl.

Age: 28

2nd September 1943

From family stories, the day Freddie died, he was taken from his sick bed to make up the numbers of men to work that day. As he was lifted out of the truck to begin work, he died, and as he died he called for his mother. His mother heard him and said the voice was so pitiful, and she knew he was dead.
