Being transported in the Harugiku Maru from Belawan in Sumatra to Pakanbaroe in Sumatra. Leaving port on the 25th June 1944 with 730 prisoners.

 

Died

Age: 28

26th June 1944

 The Harugiku Maru was sunk on the 26th June by a torpedo fired from HMS Truculent, just South of Balawan (543 Lat 30.15N Lon 99.47E). Desmond died with another 176 prisoners in the sinking.
