1941/010/29 - Transported to Halifax in the ‘Andes’.

USS West Point-2

1941/11/08 - Transferred to ‘USS West Point’ destination Bombay then Singapore.

1941/12/08 - Japanese declared war on Britain by invading Malaya.

1942/01/29 - Berthed Singapore.

1942/02/15 - Singapore surrendered.

 

Japanese PoW

Marched to Changi

Transported by rail to Thailand.

1943/11 - Thailand-Burma Railway finished.

 Transported back to Singapore

1944/07/04 - Sailed from Singapore to Japan on the Hakushika Maru.

1944/08/13 - Arrived Japan.

1944/08/12 Arrived at Sendai #1 POW Camp Yumoto.

At Sendai he worked in the coal mines.

Frederick was a very good singer and performed in the camp pantomimes.

1945/08/15 - Japan surrendered.

In the spring of 1946 Frederick Walked home to 1 Friars close, Luton and a family was born.
