Joe became known in the camps as “the Doctor” although he had no medical qualifications he worked in the hospital.

Post War

He was an active member of the F.E.P.O.W Association in UK whilst running an estate agency business in Tottenham and Southend in the 1950s and 1960s.  He emigrated to Australia (Western Australia) in 1965 and immediately became a member of Perth Legacy to continue his work with war widows.

 

Died

Joe died in 2000 of natural causes.
