1940/01/29 to 1940/03/22 - Portsmouth Division (CO F.B.Clifford)

1940/03/23 - HBL MNBDO 1 (CO W. Sinclair)

(HBL was assigned to any man who was with a specialist unit and not assigned to a ship or fixed shore station).

1941/02/04 -  The MNBDO 1  sailed for the Middle East.

1941/04/ - Arrived Port Said

1941/04/23 - Taken to Tahal Camp in Egypt. Under command of the C-in-C Middle East.

1941/05/09 - Crete, (CO General Weston)

1942/07/ to 1942/08/ - HQ 23 Indian Division, Far East

1942/08/22 to 1942/10/20 - Overseas Service hospital (64th General Hospital)

1942/11/11 - While at 25 Camp El Tahag developed ‘generalised infection of the gums’

1943/01/29 - 1st Good Conduct Badge

1943/06/27 - Ceylon. Organised defence of Ceylon and training for operations in Burma.

1943 - Royal Marines Technical Training Depot

1944 Spring - Returned to Britain

1944 - Combined Operation Base Brightlingsea

1944/06/18 to 1945/01/25 - Royal Marines Training Group Wales

1944/09/ - MNBDO 1 HQ finally disbanded

1945/02/26 to 1945/10/12 - Royal Marines MT School (CO H.C.Smith)

1945/10/13 to 1945/12/31 - Portsmouth Division (CO W.W. Grover / J.H. Crawley Way)
